Learning is Messy

A wise man once said "do not judge an educator by the class they have in front of them. Instead, judge the educator by the progress their students made".  It doesn't matter what learning looks like, in fact, learning is a messy endeavor.  I am a person who likes to get messy when I am working.  When I am painting a room for instance, there is often paint in my hair, on my clothes and often on the dog. When I am done painting, the paint job is well done because I am focused on getting paint on the walls. I don't care where else the paint lands. Same goes for my teaching. When I am teaching, I am focused on what my students are learning. I am not focused on what they look like when they are learning.
